The Circular Economy Hackathon Report documents a virtual innovation program organized by the Dutch Consulate in Lagos and the Nigeria Climate Innovation Center (NCIC) to develop sustainable solutions for waste management and circular economy challenges. Held in February 2021, the hackathon received 304 applications and selected 20 entrepreneurs to tackle challenges from four participating companies. Through boot camps, mentoring, and pitching, innovators developed solutions spanning plastic recycling, composting, waste trading, and waste-to-energy. The program demonstrated the potential of collaboration, innovation, and entrepreneurship to advance Nigeria’s circular economy.
