Inclusivity and the creation of a gender balanced ecosystem is one of the components of the green economy which demonstrates equal opportunities for all.
Students With Awesome Green Ideas (SWAG) is a youth innovation program aimed at mentoring, coaching, and building capacities of secondary school teachers and students to develop green and sustainable solutions that can be deployed to reduce or mitigate climate change challenges. This was done as a pilot in partnership with Lagos State Research and Innovation Council (LASRIC) , with an outcome of embedding green and climate-smart ideas in secondary schools curriculum across the state, while building green entrepreneurial skills of students at a young stage.
The Program is NCIC’s gender inclusion flagship program that aims to empower women of all work categories (either self-employed or employed) with the requisite knowledge and skills to lead on the adoption of green, climate-friendly, and sustainable practices in their personal and workspaces to impact their productivity and drive excellence. The program seeks to address closing the knowledge gap on climate change and the green economy as to how it relates to corporate responsibilities and work productivity levels, while leveraging gender inclusivity as a tool to champion this narrative
