The agriculture sector in Nigeria contributes about 25% to the nations’ GDP, just behind the oil sector. It is very clear that the agricultural sector offers a lot of opportunities for revenue and job creation.
There are increasingly hundreds of entrepreneurs with innovative solutions that can solve the problem that plagues the sector despite the effort by the federal government to boost the sector. Better yields and improved produce are achievable through improved quality of agricultural inputs, irrigation, timely harvesting, improved post-harvest management and quality control as well as investments in storage facilities such as cold storage for perishables.
NCIC aims to support entrepreneurs developing innovative agricultural technologies that can make such changes possible, which in turn improves the efficiency of small-scale scale farm and provide communities with access to better cheaper foods.
